Summary

Open UKRI funding opportunity · Grant. Open with no closing date. Total fund £2 million. Opportunity page: https://www.ukri.org/opportunity/mathematical-sciences-small-grants/

Applications to the Mathematical Sciences Small Grants funding opportunity must focus on original research projects.

The majority of the research must be within the remit of the EPSRC Mathematical sciences theme.

Core application questions and assessment criteria will be used. Full applications can be submitted at any time and will be considered by EPSRC on a rolling basis. Standard EPSRC eligibility rules apply.

The full economic cost (FEC) of your project can be up to £100,000. EPSRC will fund 80% of the FEC and up to 12 months in duration.

What we're looking for Scope

Small grants are a mechanism for supporting Mathematical Sciences research which does not require funding at the level generally seen within standard research grants.

Projects must be primarily focused on original research projects while also could support:

- to explore research in new areas within or beyond applicants’ existing areas of expertise

- to generate proof-of-principle results

- to conduct short follow-on projects arising from previous research

- to generate evidence of new or re-establishing existing collaborations

- to realise user impacts

- to support career development for postdoctoral-level researchers. For example, by substantially involving them in the formulation and development of research project grant applications and the research delivery as a researcher co-lead or by providing them opportunities to carry out research or innovation work on research projects as a research and innovation associate. EPSRC does not encourage the inclusion of unnamed postdoctoral-level researchers for less than six-month positions in the core team.

This is not an exhaustive list. You are welcome to contact maths@epsrc.ukri.org if you have any further questions.
