Question 1

What is Lantern Grants?

Accepted Answer

Lantern Grants helps academic researchers find funding, write stronger proposals and keep track of deadlines. It brings open calls and recently funded awards from major research funders into one place and ranks them against your research profile.

Question 2

Which funders does Lantern Grants cover?

Accepted Answer

Open calls you can apply to come from Grants.gov (which lists NIH, NSF, DOE and other US federal opportunities), NASA, USDA NIFA and the Department of Defense. Recently funded projects come from NIH, NSF, the EU (Horizon Europe and ERC), UKRI, Wellcome, the Gates Foundation and DOE, so you can see who funds work like yours. Listings refresh twice a day; always confirm details in the funder's official call.

Question 3

How does matching work?

Accepted Answer

You describe your research, career stage, country and funding range. Lantern Grants scores each grant against that profile and shows your best matches first. The Free plan shows scores for your top 5 matches each week; Pro and Lab show them for every grant.

Question 4

Will AI write my proposal for me?

Accepted Answer

No, and that's deliberate. Many funders restrict AI-written applications. On Pro and Lab, our AI acts as a writing coach: it reviews a section the way a funder's reviewer would, or arranges your own notes into the structure reviewers expect, keeping your wording and leaving gaps for you to fill. You stay the author.

Question 5

Can I submit my proposal through Lantern Grants?

Accepted Answer

No. Funders only accept applications through their own systems, such as Grants.gov, Research.gov, the EU Funding & Tenders Portal or the UKRI Funding Service, and most require your institution's research office to submit. Lantern Grants prepares everything up to that point: a how-to-submit guide for each call with the portal, registrations and lead times, your research office deadline next to the funder's, a submission checklist, and PDFs named and checked for the funder's page limits.

Question 6

Is Lantern Grants free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Free plan includes search, tracking, deadline reminders and 5 scored matches a week. Pro ($29/month) adds unlimited matches, the AI writing coach and extra reminders. Lab ($79/month) adds a shared pipeline for up to 5 researchers. Cancel anytime.
